I have chatted to a few friends and sometimes randomers about the glorious dream of FIRE and it still surprises me the amount of skepticism that surrounds it. I guess that the FIRE movement is a relatively new phenomenon, or rather, relatively new in coming to the limelight. People have been doing it successfully for years already!
So I asked people, “Why the skepticism and uncertainty around FIRE?”
All the answers included some form of “it would get boring” or “I wouldn’t know what to do with the time?”
They use that as an excuse to gloss over FIRE and never give it a second thought. But I always think, all that free time….WOW! I can’t wait to fill it with amazing, new experiences!
What would these experiences be? Who knows! But I do have an ever growing list.
The Retirement List

Spend a year following the winter to snowboard for that year
Learn a second language (properly)
Learn a third language

Slow travel around Asia

this list isn’t complete so I will add regularly to the list but please do send a few ideas my way if I have left out an must have experience in your book?
I needed to write a post like this in order to take a break from the “finance” talk because this isn’t a blog about numbers, but one of my experience that I want to share on this journey, including my motivations to get me through!
